Person with Bipolar Disorder suffers from mood swings. This illness has two sides, manic and depression. It affects both, men and women as well as children. Statistically, Women have more depression episodes and men are more prone to start with manic episodes.
Doctors classify this illness into several types and these types have their own pattern of symptoms. Cyclothymia, Bipolar I and Bipolar II, mixed bipolar and rapid cycling. Among these types, Bipolar I is the most severe condition, in which, patients experience longer episodes of high and depression, while the other type, Bipolar II is less severe, since episodes don’t last long. Bipolar I often leads to hospitalization. Cyclothymia is the mild case of the Bipolar Disorder, patients have more mild symptoms than in other types of the illness. In rapid cycling patients experience depression state at least 4 times in a year. Last type of bipolar is missed bipolar, in which case, people suffering from the illness experience both, Depression and mania simultaneously.

Bipolar Disorder affects different people differently and all of them have different pattern of symptoms. It happens quite often when this illness makes life difficult for people, relationship with friends and family, job and other activities, people usually lose interest in things they used to enjoy, in some cases they engage in risky business, start drinking and using drugs, drive carelessly etc. This condition worsens quality of life and sometimes it may even be fatal, since the severe state of depression may lead to suicide. Without treatment and therapy, symptoms keep getting worse and worse.
Once the illness has been identified there are varieties of treatment options too choose from. Most important is to remember that even though there is no cure; Bipolar Disorder Symptoms can be managed. There are medications to fix the chemical imbalances in the brain, and there are numbers of therapies for the people suffering from the bipolar disorder. Point is that medications alone aren’t enough to manage all the Bipolar Disorder Symptoms. Environmental conditions affect the state of the patients. According the studies, stress free life and healthy work balance is the best way manage this illness. It’s important to have friends around that you can talk about your problems with and who will encourage you. Friends and family are also important to get rid of suicidal thoughts and depression state in general. Best treatment is the combination of the lifestyle and medications as well as therapy sessions.
